Enel to acquire 270 MW solar plants in US

Enel S.p.A., through its subsidiary Enel Green Power North America, has signed an agreement with a US utility to acquire a portfolio of seven operational solar PV plants with a combined capacity of about 270 MW. The agreement has an enterprise value of approximately $140 million. The acquisition will be financed through cash flows generated from current operations. 

The portfolio is expected to generate approximately 0.4 TWh of electricity annually, including projects located across Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Out of which two projects in Virginia account for more than 120 MW, while one North Carolina plant contributes over 90 MW and four South Carolina projects add around 50 MW. The transaction is expected to close by the end of 2026, subject to customary conditions and regulatory approvals.

In February 2026, Enel S.p.A., through its subsidiaries Enel Green Power North America and EGPNA Project Holdco 2, signed agreements with Excelsior Energy Capital to acquire a 830 MW renewable energy portfolio in US. The portfolio comprises wind and solar plants with an average annual output of 2.1 TWh. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026, subject to certain conditions precedent, including regulatory approvals.
