Apex closes financing for 670 MW renewable projects in US

Apex Clean Energy has completed the financing of three utility-scale renewable energy assets located in Texas, Ohio, and Illinois. The projects include Coles wind farm in Illinois, Emerson Creek wind farm in Ohio, and Raven storage facility in Texas. Cumulative, these assets account for nearly 670 MW of capacity. The three transactions represent financial commitments of approximately $2.79 billion, supporting both construction and operations. Additionally, these deals contributed to a cumulative financing total of about $4.08 billion across the company’s portfolio during 2025.

Raven Storage is a 100 MW battery energy storage system project situated in Wharton county, Texas. It forms part of SA Grid Solutions, a joint venture involving Apex Clean Energy, SK Gas, and SK Eternix.  Emerson Creek is a 269 MW wind project located across Erie and Huron Counties in Ohio. It secured a construction and term loan, along with a letter of credit facility, provided by CIBC, Helaba, and Santander, as well as a tax equity commitment from Wells Fargo. Coles Wind is a 300 MW wind project in Coles county, Illinois. The project obtained construction and term financing underwritten by Santander, with J.P. Morgan acting as the sole tax equity partner. Moreover, the three financings span multiple power markets, including MISO, PJM, and ERCOT. 

In December 2025, Apex Clean Energy announced the sale of four distributed solar projects with a combined capacity of 20 MWac as part of a single portfolio transaction. The portfolio includes the Bandyville, Rooks Creek, Swamp Fox, and Cherry Grove projects The projects are intended to support grid reliability amid rising electricity demand from data centres, manufacturing reshoring, and industrial expansion.
