TANESCO invites tenders for construction of 100 MWp solar project in Tanzania

The Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited (TANESCO) is inviting tenders from all the eligible contractors for the construction of a 100 MWp solar PV plant, phase II. TANESCO is the Project Executing Agency for this project, which is situated in the Shinyanga Region. 

The government of the United Republic of Tanzania received financing from Agence Française de Développement for the cost of design, construction, and installation of this 100 MWp solar plant. Furthermore, the government wants to utilise part of the proceeds of the financing to cover eligible payments under the contract for the procurement of engineering , procurement and construction (EPC) contractors building  this solar plant.

Established in 1964, TANESCO is a parastatal organisation wholly owned by the government of Tanzania. It generates, purchases, transmits, distributes, and sells electricity to the Tanzania Mainland and sells bulk power to the Zanzibar Electricity Corporation, which in turn sells it to the public in the islands Unguja and Pemba.
