Germany’s Federal Network Agency has announced results of its September 2026 innovation and biomethane auction. The innovation auction for solar photovoltaic combined with energy storage was significantly oversubscribed, attracting 53 bids totalling 678 MW against the 475 MW offered. Of these, 32 bids totalling 480 MW were awarded, with prices ranging from 4.50-5.40 ct per kWh and a volume-weighted average of 5.14 ct per kWh.
Under the innovation auction, Bavaria received the largest awarded volume at 177 MW, followed by Brandenburg at 94 MW and North Rhine-Westphalia at 48 MW. The 21 MW biomethane auction was undersubscribed, receiving 3 bids totalling 6 MW, all of which were awarded. Biomethane award prices ranged from 23.07-23.13 ct per kWh, with a volume-weighted average of 23.12 ct per kWh.
In September 2026, Germany’s Federal Network Agency announced the results of its August 2026 onshore wind auction. A total of 461 bids totalling 5,250 MW were submitted while the auction offered 2,520 MW, making the auction significantly oversubscribed. A total of 237 bids, totalling 2,523 MW were awarded, while 17 bids were excluded. Furthermore, the successful bids ranged from 4.49-4.98 ct per kWh, with the average weighted award price falling to 4.79 ct per kWh, down from the previous auction round, which had an average weighted award price of 5.06 ct per kWh.
