China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN) has fully commissioned the 2 GW Yangjiang Fanshi offshore wind project in Guangdong. The project comprises two 1 GW wind farms, Fanshi 1 and Fanshi 2, located south of Nanpeng Island in Yangjiang’s Yangdong District. The project site extends up to 81 km offshore and reaches water depths of 53 metres. The project features deployment of 131 turbines, including 33 turbine units rated at 18 MW.
Furthermore, the turbines have a 292-metre rotor diameter and can generate up to 56 million kWh annually each. The project also includes China’s first 500 kV intermediate reactive power compensation station for an offshore wind farm. The project is expected to supply more than 6.6 TWh of electricity annually, while offsetting approximately 5.1 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually. Following the project’s commissioning, the region’s offshore wind capacity has exceeded 8 GW.
In July 2026, CGN achieved full-capacity grid connection for its 200 MW Ningde offshore solar project in Fujian Province. The project is co-located with a nuclear power plant and also includes a 20 MW/40 MWh battery energy storage system. The project is expected to generate around 300 million kWh annually, while offsetting approximately 91,300 tonnes of standard coal use and 198,000 tonnes of carbon emissions annually.
