SECI declares winners of its 2,000 MW wind-solar hybrid auction

Results for Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited’s (SECI) auction to develop 2,000 MW inter-state transmission system connected wind-solar hybrid power projects, tranche VII, have been announced. The tender for the project was issued in October 2023. The project will be located anywhere in India. By quoting Rs 3.21 per kWh, Juniper Green Energy and Green Infra Wind Energy (Sembcorp) have won 150 MW and 450 MW, respectively. NTPC Renewable Energy Limited has won 300 MW by quoting Rs 3.15 per kWh. Of the total tendered capacity, only 900 MW was auctioned.

The project must be completed within 24 months of power purchase agreement being signed. The winning developers are required to maintain annual supply equivalent to a capacity utilisation factor ranging between 80 per cent and 120 per cent of the declared value. Furthermore, SECI has mandated the use of indigenously manufactured solar modules listed in the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers. Additionally, under the tender, only wind-turbine models issued by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, listed in Revised list of Models and Manufacturers will be allowed.

Recently, in January 2024, SECI issued tender for scheduled commercial banks or financial institutions to provide a term loan of 10 billion for the establishment of a 300 MW solar power project in the Ramagiri village of Sri Satya Sai District in Andhra Pradesh.

In the same month, SECI issued a tender to develop 1,500 MW inter-state transmission system connected solar projects (Tranche XIII).
