The first month of 2018 witnessed significant activity in the solar power segment, with a series of tenders announced by government agencies and industry players giving further impetus to the country’s clean energy goals. The highest grid-connected solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity was tendered by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). For the first time, a solar power project tender was issued by Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL). Meanwhile, Haryana continued to be strong in the rooftop solar segment as it released another tender for 50 MW of rooftop solar capacity to be set up in the state. The New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NREDCAP) also released a tender for the installation of 5,000 solar pumps. The following table summarises the key solar tenders released by various agencies and companies in January 2018.
