Scout signs 300 MW wind VPPA with Oracle

Scout Clean Energy has signed a virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) with Oracle for a majority of the power generated by its 300 MW Ranchero wind farm in Crockett County, Texas. Ranchero Wind Farm started commercial operations in 2019. The wind farm generates enough electricity each year to meet the annual electricity needs of around 177,000 homes.

Earlier, in September 2026, RWE signed a VPPA with Oracle for 433 MW of electricity from its Panther Creek I, II and III wind farms in West Texas. The projects, located across Sterling, Howard and Glasscock counties, form part of Oracle’s broader portfolio of over 1.7 GW of power investments in Texas.

Also in September 2026, Oracle invited proposals for the development of 2 GW of new renewable energy capacity in New Mexico, with projects based on solar, wind, geothermal and other renewable energy technologies. The RFP seeks projects that can be commissioned between 2027 and 2031 to support the state’s economic growth through clean energy.
