Thermax Limited has partnered with Ankur Scientific to set up a green methanol production facility at Deendayal Port Authority, Gujarat. The facility is expected to produce around 18,000 tonnes of green methanol annually and will be designed as a modular, integrated unit.
Furthermore, the plant is expected to produce about 5 tonnes of green methanol per day. The methanol produced will be used as a cleaner fuel for the shipping sector. The project will use Ganda Baval (mesquite), a low-value biomass with limited agricultural use, as feedstock. It will be processed using Ankur Scientific’s gasification technology, while Thermax will handle fuel processing to convert it into standard-grade methanol.
