AM Green signs €585 million green ammonia deal with Hintco

AM Green Ammonia Private Limited (AM Green) has signed a 10-year agreement with Hintco for the supply of renewable fuels of non-biological origin ammonia to Germany. The company was selected as the sole winner of the Asian lot in Hintco’s H2Global auction. Under the agreement, Hintco will purchase ammonia from AM Green for a minimum value of €585 million. Additional volumes may be purchased using proceeds from the resale of green ammonia in the European market.

Furthermore, the ammonia will be produced at AM Green’s Kakinada Phase 2 project in Andhra Pradesh. The project will convert an existing natural gas-based ammonia and urea plant into a green ammonia facility using alkaline electrolysis, powered by round-the-clock renewable power supported by pumped-hydro storage. The first ammonia shipments to Germany are expected in 2029 from Kakinada Seaports.

Earlier, in June 2026, AM Green and the V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOCPA) signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly develop the VOC port in Tuticorin as a green ammonia production and bunkering hub.
