Germany’s Federal Network Agency has released the results of the innovation auction that concluded on September 1, 2025. The auction, which invited bids for hybrid renewable and storage projects, was oversubscribed by four times. The tendered capacity was 486 MW, with the auction receiving bids with a total capacity of 2,182 MW. The total number of bids received was 163, of which 33 bids with a cumulative capacity of 490 MW were awarded. The successful projects consisted entirely of combinations of solar installations and storage systems. No bids were submitted in the parallel auction for biomethane installations.
The awarded bid prices ranged between €0.0479 per kWh and €0.0559 per kWh. The average volume-weighted award price was €0.0531 per kWh, notably lower than both the ceiling price of €0.09 per kWh and the previous auction’s average award price of €0.0615 per kWh. Bavaria secured the largest share of the awarded capacity, totalling 122 MW secured from 11 awarded bids. This was followed by Schleswig-Holstein and Brandenburg with awarded capacities of 54 MW and 51 MW, respectively, each from two awarded bids.
In September 2025, Germany’s Federal Network Agency announced the results of the onshore wind auction that closed on August 1, 2025. The tendered capacity of 3,443 MW was oversubscribed, receiving 604 bids totalling 5,739 MW, out of which 376 bids with a combined capacity of 3,448 MW were awarded .The bid prices ranged from €0.0639 per kWh to €0.0664 per kWh under the pay-as-bid process.
