NTPC Green Energy Limited has entered into a land lease agreement with Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) to establish an integrated green hydrogen hub. The agreement aims to achieve NTPC’s green energy and green hydrogen goals, aligning with the government of India’s endeavors for energy transition. To be situated near Pudimadaka village in Atchutapuram Mandal, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, the project will span 1,200 acres of land.
The objective of the Pudimadaka green hydrogen hub is to establish an environment for innovative technologies in the emerging energy landscape, encompassing electrolyser and fuel cell manufacturing, associated ancillary sectors, startup incubation, testing facilities, and the production and export of green hydrogen and its by-products encompassing green ammonia or green methanol, among others. The endeavor involves building India’s most extensive 1,200 tonnes per day green hydrogen production facility, intended for the conversion into hydrogen derivatives like green ammonia and green methanol. Its main focus is on serving diverse export markets.
Recently, in February 2024, NTPC Limited and National Aluminium Company Limited signed a MoU to investigate diverse alternatives such as coal-based thermal, solar photovoltaic, wind, other renewable energy sources, energy storage, or a combination thereof.
In the same month, ONGC and NTPC Green Energy Limited entered into a joint venture agreement to develop renewable energy projects with a focus on offshore wind.
