POWER GRID Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has emerged as the successful bidder under tariff-based competitive bidding for establishing the inter-state transmission system (ISTS) for the integration of power from renewable energy projects in the 7,500 MW Lakadia Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) in Gujarat under Phase II. The project will be developed on a build, own, operate and transfer (BOOT) basis at quoted annual transmission charges of Rs 11.52 billion.
Furthermore, the project involves the establishment of a new 765/400 kV Lakadia-II substation and the construction of 765 kV transmission lines across the state, along with associated equipment and bays. Additionally, the scope includes the installation and commissioning of a synchronous condenser at the Lakadia-II substation.
In September 2026, POWERGRID emerged as the successful bidder under tariff-based competitive bidding for establishing an ISTS to evacuate 6 GW of solar power from the Barmer-II REZ in Rajasthan. The project will be developed on a BOOT basis, with quoted annual transmission charges of Rs 32.44 billion.
