BW ESS acquires 675 MWh BESS projects in Spain

BW ESS has acquired two standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) projects from Navacant in Spain. The projects, located in the Valencia region, have storage capacities of 99 MW and 27 MW, respectively. Together, the projects have a combined capacity of 126 MW/up to 675 MWh.

Furthermore, the projects are expected to reach ready-to-build status in 2027 with commercial operations targeted for 2028. CST Energy, a Navacant partner, will lead the project development through the ready-to-build stage, with BW ESS taking over responsibility for construction and commissioning once the projects reach ready-to-build status.

In August 2026, BW ESS acquired the Yanco BESS project in New South Wales, Australia. The project has been acquired from ACEnergy. The project has an installed capacity of 250 MW/1,200 MWh and will connect to the Yanco 132 kV substation. Project construction is expected to commence later in 2026, with commercial operations targeted for 2028.
