Ready to build next-generation energy storage networks?

Register now for the “Connected Energy Storage: Building Reliable and Resilient BESS Infrastructure” webinar, hosted by Powerline and Renewable Watch in association with BELDEN Inc on September 16, 2026, 3-430 PM IST.

Mission and Background:

Battery energy storage systems (BESS) have emerged as a critical piece of the power sector ecosystem – with applications across generation (to help manage resource intermittency and provide firm clean power), and across transmission and distribution (to help improve grid stability, load management and a variety of ancillary services). As the power systems become more complex, reliable and secure industrial networks with efficient connectivity are important for seamless communication between various assets – right from renewables or other power supply source, battery containers, power conversion systems, and energy management systems, to SCADA, substations, and grid operators.

The government’s plan is to deploy 80 GW of BESS over the next decade, and this would need significant upgradation and enhancement of reliable and secure industrial connectivity systems for uninterrupted operations of utility-scale and industrial BESS projects. Secure communication infrastructure is vital to leverage real-time data for remote monitoring, predictive maintenance, and operational efficiency, and also protect critical assets from cybersecurity risks.

The mission of this webinar is to highlight the critical importance of industrial networking for implementing BESS. The webinar will focus on key aspects of BESS communication networks and their applications in enabling real-time monitoring, remote diagnostics, cybersecurity, and scalable integration with the power grid. The webinar will bring together power producers, renewables and BESS developers, EPC contractors and system integrators, utilities and grid operators, large C&I consumers as well as energy consultants and digital transformation leaders.

Key discussion points:

  • What are the key challenges being faced across renewable energy projects, commercial and industrial facilities and T&D assets with respect to operation of BESS? How do you expect the challenges to evolve as power systems become smarter and more distributed?
  • What are the key connectivity challenges faced by BESS installations, including remote locations and network disruptions?  What role can real-time connectivity play in improving asset visibility, predictive maintenance, and remote operations across distributed BESS sites?
  • What connectivity technologies and network architectures are already in use to build scalable and resilient BESS infrastructure in India? What are the key design priorities for organisations with respect to BESS communication networks?
  • With increasing connectivity comes increasing cyber risk. How should utilities, IPPs, and industrial operators approach cybersecurity for BESS infrastructure?

Panel includes:

  • Ajay Dhamania, GM, NTPC Renewable Energy Limited
  • Sunil K. Sharma, General Manager, Sustainability and Clean Technology, BSES Yamuna Power Limited
  • Naresh Chandak, Senior Vice -President (New Business and Renewable Energy), IndiGrid
