WeWork India Management Limited plans to develop a 10 MWp ground-mounted solar power plant in Karnataka as part of its goal to shift to 100 per cent renewable electricity by March 2028. The project is expected to be commissioned by the first quarter of 2027 and generate around 15 to 16 million units of electricity annually.
The solar plant will have a design life of 25 years and once operational, it is expected to increase the share of renewable electricity in WeWork India’s portfolio from nearly 40 to 50 per cent.
Furthermore, around 80 per cent of the power generated by the plant will be used for WeWork India’s operations, including 10 centres in Bengaluru, while the remaining 20 per cent will support its future growth. The state accounts for around 30 per cent of the company’s total electricity consumption, and the solar plant will help meet part of this demand through renewable power.
