Vickram Jadhav is country sales vice-president (VP) at Vestas, a world leader in the wind energy segment. Jadhav has devoted most of his 25-year-long career to the creation and implementation of innovative ideas, in order to develop successful energy generation business modules. He has served as VP of Vestas for over three years and counting. Prior to this, he held several business leadership positions for various large global companies.
He earned a name for himself while modelling and distilling core breakthrough strategies for some of the most reputable energy conglomerates. He is known for using these distinctions to help optimise and grow enterprises to new and more profitable levels with best-in-class free cash flows.
On the most exciting part of his role and the industry, Jadhav says, “India has an abundance of solar power, which has enabled the green revolution in the country. However, I proudly distinguish myself as a leader in the non-solar revolution in India, which makes it all the more challenging but also very exciting.” He adds, “As an organisation strategy, we have been very disciplined in terms of our approach towards achieving business objectives. We take up projects that we are confident will be commissioned, a lot of them in the C&I space.” On the key issues in the sector, he says, “Manufacturing is not a constraint in India; there is ample capacity in the country. However, irrational market behaviour and the resultant project execution delays have posed challenges for the wind segment. Since the beginning of the auction regime, 40,000 MW of wind energy has been auctioned, including pure wind and hybrid projects. Of this, only about 5,000 MW has been commissioned.”
Jadhav has a laissez-faire style of management, which involves always looking at the bigger picture. He has deep relationships with customers and works closely with them, which enables his team to understand nuances and close deals. To ensure complete transparency with customers, he and his team make them understand the value that Vestas as an organisation delivers through power plant modelling, superior technology and on-time performance.
Jadhav enjoys travelling to environment-friendly places and interacting with locals. He loves cooking and reading as well. His goal is to be successful in the true sense of the word, and not just to be seen as such, much like the great companies he has worked for. Professionally speaking, he would like Vestas to achieve a higher market share, even better profitability in India and continue to be a trusted business partner to customers.
