With increasing uptake of green hydrogen, there is a surge in demand for efficient electrolysers to split the water molecules into pure hydrogen and oxygen. Accurate measurements of hydrogen, oxygen and moisture through advanced sensors can help maximize an electrolyser’s safety and efficiency.
For process safety, hydrogen levels must be constantly monitored in the oxygen to ensure no mixing of the two that can lead to potential explosions. It must be ensured that hydrogen in oxygen remains below the permissible levels of 5%,
It is also critical to minimise the concentration of contaminants, that is, oxygen and moisture, to below 10 ppm levels. Thus, measurement of both these contaminants is essential to get high quality hydrogen.
