BHEL and thyssenkrupp nucera India partner for alkaline electrolysers

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has partnered with thyssenkrupp nucera India Private Limited to support the phased indigenisation and local manufacturing of alkaline electrolyser systems for green hydrogen projects in India. The partnership further intends to strengthen BHEL’s project execution capabilities for green hydrogen projects in India.

Earlier, in March 2026, thyssenkrupp nucera inked a front-end engineering design contract with Juno Joule Green Energy Private Limited for a 260 MW green hydrogen project in India to prepare a concept for integrating alkaline water electrolysis into Juno Joule’s plant infrastructure.

Earlier, in February 2026, thyssenkrupp Steel signed four power purchase agreements to secure around 230 GWh of green electricity to support the decarbonisation of its steel production. The agreements were concluded with Quadra Energy, Statkraft, Centrica Energy, and Sunnic Lighthouse.
