LG Energy Solution Vertech and DTE Energy sign 6 GWh BESS deal in Michigan

LG Energy Solution Vertech has signed a supply agreement with DTE Energy to deploy battery energy storage systems (BESS) across Michigan. The partnership will support eight projects over the next two years, delivering a total of 1.5 GW/6 GWh of storage capacity. Battery cells will be sourced from LG Energy Solution’s manufacturing facilities in Michigan, as well as other locations in the US and Canada for the project.

In April 2026, DTE Energy launched a request for proposal for up to 480 MW of standalone battery energy storage projects in Michigan. Commercial operations for the projects are targeted by the first quarter of 2029. The projects will expand DTE’s growing storage portfolio, which includes the 14 MW Slocum battery energy storage system  and the 220 MW Trenton Channel Energy Center.

In February 2026, LG Energy Solution Vertech and Qcells signed a multi-year agreement for 5 GWh of American-made battery energy storage systems for utility-scale projects across the US between 2028 and 2030. The agreement also includes lifecycle services from LG Energy Solution Vertech to support project performance and reliability.
