Hydro Energi AS and Statkraft have signed long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) for 0.9 TWh of annual electricity generation from 2029-30 and 1.3 TWh annually from 2031-38. The agreements secure a total of 12.3 TWh over 10 years for Hydro Energi’s aluminium plants in Norway. Of this, 8.8 TWh will be supplied in NO2 and 3.5 TWh in NO3 price areas. The renewable power will support Hydro Energi’s low-carbon aluminium production and reduce its carbon footprint by 75 per cent less than the global average, thereby supporting its 2050 net-zero roadmap.
In March 2026, Hydro Energi AS signed a long-term power purchase agreement with Alpiq for 219 GWh annually from 2031 to 2038. The agreement ensures a total supply of 1.75 TWh over the contract period. Power will be delivered in Norway’s NO3 electricity price area.
In December 2025, Hydro Energi AS and Hafslund Kraft AS signed a long-term power purchase agreement for 1.75 TWh from 2036 to 2040. The agreement ensures an annual supply of 350 GWh over five years. Power will be delivered in Norway’s NO3 electricity price area. This marks their eighth power purchase agreement since 2020, totaling around 10 TWh contracted.
