Invenergy commences operations of 250 MW solar project in Ohio

Invenergy has commenced operations of the Hardin III solar energy center. The project has a capacity of 250 MW and is situated in Hardin County, Ohio. WEC Energy Group is the majority owner of the solar facility. Additionally, Microsoft will purchase the electricity and renewable energy credits generated at the facility through a power purchase agreement.

The solar facility is expected to generate $180 million of new investment in Hardin County. The facility is powered by American-made solar panels produced by Illuminate USA, a solar panel manufacturing company that is majority owned by Invenergy.

Earlier in February, Invenergy secured a $1.1 billion debt financing facility for three utility-scale solar projects in Ohio, Indiana, and Tennessee. This financing package includes a construction/bridge loan facility and a letter of credit facility. The projects that this financing applies to are the Cadence Solar Energy Center (240 MW) in Ohio, the Trade Post Solar Energy Center (200 MW) in Indiana, and the Yum Yum Solar Energy Center (150 MW) in Tennessee, which are currently under construction.
