OPGC floats EPC tender for 50 MW solar project

Odisha Power Generation Corporation (OPGC) has issued an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) tender for a 50 MW solar power project at the IB Thermal Power Station in Banharpalli, Odisha. The deadline for bid submission is December 30, 2024.

According to the tender guidelines, the bidders are required to provide a bid security of Rs 25 million. The EPC contractor must obtain all necessary permits for the project, including those for the 33 kV transmission line and switchyard works at the 220 kV OPGC substation. The contractor is also responsible for the interconnection at the 220 kV substation, located approximately 4 km from the project site, along with power system studies as part of the project scope. Additionally, the contractor will also be responsible for the project’s operations and maintenance (O&M) for a five-year period.

Eligibility criteria for bidders include a cumulative installed capacity of at least 50 MW in grid-connected solar power projects, with at least two individual projects of 10 MW or more, each operational for a minimum of six months by the proposal submission date. Furthermore, the bidders must demonstrate an average annual turnover of at least Rs 1.1 billion over the last three financial years and maintain a positive net worth as of the previous financial year’s end.

In October 2023, OPGC signed an MoU with REC Limited to fund Rs 95.38 billion for setting up unit 5 and 6 of 660 MW thermal project in Jharsuguda, Odisha.
