Larsen & Toubro’s (L&T) renewables division has secured major contracts with a prominent Middle Eastern developer to construct two large-scale solar PV plants with a combined capacity of 3.5 GW. Furthermore, the scope of the orders also covers grid interconnections, including pooling substations and overhead transmission lines. Detailed engineering and initial construction work will begin soon. With the new large-scale orders from the Middle East, L&T’s renewables portfolio is set to reach a cumulative capacity of 22 GWp, encompassing both solar and wind projects that are already operational and those in development.
Last month, L&T won a solar-cum-storage plant order to be set up in the state of Bihar. This will be a grid-connected 185MW Solar PV Plant along with a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and will be located at Kajra in Lakshisarai district. The BESS will have a capacity of 254 MWh will not only provide back-up power, but will also help smoothening the fluctuations in generation, frequency regulation and voltage support. Additionally, it comes with black start capability to the grid.
