Ecoener to build 350 MW renewable portfolio in Greece

Ecoener, a Spanish clean energy company, has committed to investing $324 million in the Greek renewables market through its 350 MW portfolio. The company is expanding its portfolio of renewable energy sources through Ecoener Hellas, a subsidiary that was founded in Greece in March 2023. The first administrative licence for the first ten projects Ecoener plans to construct in Greece was recently granted by the government. The portfolio consists of two cutting-edge projects: a 50 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) plant and a 42 MW wind farm.

The projects are slated for grid connection in the first half of 2027 and are anticipated to be prepared for construction by the end of 2025. The company also has eight additional solar photovoltaic projects, totaling 272 MW in capacity. In the first half of 2026, these projects—which have also obtained initial licensing—will be ready for construction. Battery storage systems will also be included in the eight solar plants to improve their interoperability with the Greek electrical grid. The proposed facilities are to be situated in Western and Central Macedonia, Thessaly, Epirus, and Central Greece.

According to Greece’s updated National Energy and Climate Plan, the installed capacity of onshore wind and solar PV parks is projected to increase by 12 GW to 23.5 GW by 2030. Apart from Greece, Ecoener has operating offices in Italy, Poland, and Romania. Ecoener has 341 MW of renewable capacity in operation and a further 352 MW of capacity under construction.
