DTEK, a Ukrainian private energy business, has opened the 114 MW phase of one of the 500 MW Tyligulska wind power projects. The factory is positioned 100 km from the frontlines of Russia’s invasion of the country, which began in February 2022. The company has invested $200 million for phase one construction, which features 19 turbines
It is stated to be one of the first projects to use 6 MW Enventus turbines from the Danish company Vestas, which makes wind turbines. The $430 million project’s second phase will add 64 wind turbines, increasing production to 500 MW. The 500 MW facility is anticipated to become the largest onshore wind farm in eastern Europe once it is operational and will supply energy to buildings in the southern part of the country.
The company’s plans for Tyligulska are part of its strategy to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040. It will also aid Ukraine in becoming a clean energy exporter to the EU. The decision to construct the Tyligulska wind power plant was taken three years ago, as part of the company’s strategy to expand its renewable energy portfolio.
