In order to participate in Taiwan’s Phase III Offshore Wind Zonal Development auction, Singapore-based energy company Vena Energy intends to start two offshore wind projects with a total capacity of 1.8 GW. The Wei-Na wind project will be outside Changhua County, while the Wei-Long wind project will be situated offshore from Miaoli County. The 600 MW Wei-Long project will cover a site area of 76 square km, whilst the 1.2 GW Wei-Na facility would occupy a space of about 126 sqaure km. According to Vena Energy, its wind farms will be fitted with large wind turbines, each of which will have a capacity between 14 MW and 20 MW. Vena Energy, a part of Global Infrastructure Partners, has more than 200 wind and solar projects operating, being built, or in development. Additionally, the corporation has offshore wind capacity of more than 10 GW in the APAC region.
In June 2022, Siemens Gamesa received an order from Vena Energy to deliver wind turbines for a 133 MW wind project in Karnataka, India. As per the agreement, Siemens Gamesa would supply 37 of its 3.X platform turbines, known as SG 3.6-145, for the project. The turbines would be manufactured at Siemens Gamesa’s facilities in India, and installation work at the site is slated to begin in 2023.
