Verdant Energy merges with Aura Power

Verdant Energy and Aura Power Developments Limited have merged to create an independent power producer focused on solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS) in UK. The combined platform brings together Verdant’s operating and under-construction solar and BESS assets with Aura Power’s complementary contracted portfolio. The platform will have around 1 GW of solar and BESS capacity.

Furthermore, the platform will also have a 10 GW development pipeline, with selective development of Aura Power’s BESS pipeline continuing across Europe. CVC DIF, through DIF Infrastructure VII, has secured financing from Eiffel Investment Group to support the platform, refinance existing junior facilities and fund future growth.

In July 2026, Aura Power secured planning permission for the 100 MW Sandford BESS project located in Somerset. The four-hour duration project is situated adjacent to the existing National Grid substation. Once operational, the project is expected to supply electricity equivalent to the needs of up to 100,000 homes per discharge cycle and avoid around 25,000 tonnes of carbon emissions.
