NHPC Limited has awarded 1,200 MW of grid-connected solar projects at the Jalaun solar park in Uttar Pradesh. Coal India Limited secured 600 MW (300 MW x 2) from Bundelkhand Saur Urja Limited (BSUL), a joint venture of NHPC Limited and Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA). NLC India Renewables (NIRL) Limited was awarded 600 MW.
Furthermore, both companies secured their projects at a tariff of Rs 2.73 per kWh. Coal India’s 600 MW project is estimated to cost Rs 28.31 billion, and is expected to be completed within 18 months from the signing of the power purchase agreement (PPA).
Earlier, in June 2026, NHPC Limited and Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited signed a PPA for the supply of electricity from NHPC’s 260 MW Dulhasti Stage-II hydroelectric project located in the Kishtwar district of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
