energyRe closes $815 million financing for US solar projects

energyRe has closed an $815 million financing package for five utility-scale solar projects in South Carolina, US, with a combined capacity of approximately 360 MW. The projects are covered by 25-year power purchase agreements and are expected to generate tens of millions of dollars in revenue for local governments. The financing was supported by Bank of America, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, and Santander.

Earlier, in October 2026, Enel, through its wholly-owned subsidiary Enel Green Power North America, completed the acquisition of 7 operational solar plants in the US. The plants have a combined installed capacity of approximately 270 MW and are expected to generate around 0.4 TWh of electricity annually. The acquisition was completed for approximately $140 million.

In September 2026, Generate Capital closed a term debt facility of $117 million with MUFG to finance its Community Solar Fund 11. The fund comprises 18 community solar projects totalling 114 MWdc across Illinois and New York. The transaction follows the company securing approximately $1.4 billion in financing commitments during the first half of 2026, including financing for a 104 MW community solar portfolio with Monarch Private Capital and a $61 million senior secured US private placement.
