Recurrent Energy commissions 200 MW solar project in Spain

Recurrent Energy has started commercial operations at the 200 MWp Villameca solar project in Castilla y León, Spain. The project adds to Recurrent Energy’s solar portfolio in Spain, alongside the 426 MWp Rey Solar Project in Andalucía and the 315 MWp Tordesillas Project in Castilla y León, which is expected to be connected later this year.

With these projects, Recurrent Energy’s operational solar capacity in Spain is expected to reach around 1 GW by the end of 2026. Furthermore, the project is expected to be hybridised with battery energy storage systems to support grid stability and further reduce emissions.

Earlier, in August 2026, Recurrent Energy secured $695 million in project financing and tax equity for the Cobalt solar project located in Riverside County, California. The project has an installed capacity of 300 MW and is currently under construction. The project is expected to commence operations by the end of 2027.
