Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated Powergrid Corporation of India Limited’s (Powergrid) two transmission infrastructure projects. The projects aim to strengthen green energy evacuation from Rajasthan’s renewable energy zones (REZ) and represent a combined investment of over Rs 36 billion.
The first project is the transmission system for evacuation of power from REZ in Rajasthan (20 GW) under Phase-III Part-B1. It involves the development of the 765/400/220 kV Bhadla-III substation and 765 kV double-circuit transmission line connecting Bhadla-III and Sikar-II. The second project is the transmission system strengthening scheme for the evacuation of power from solar energy zones in Rajasthan (8.1 GW) under Phase-II Part-E. It consists of the 765 kV double-circuit Bhadla-II–Sikar-II second transmission line. Moreover, the two projects form part of the national transmission network being developed to support large-scale integration of renewable energy into the grid.
Earlier in February 2026, Powergrid Narela Transmission, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Powergrid, commissioned an interstate transmission system in Rajasthan that will enable the evacuation of 8.1 GW of power from solar energy zones in the state.
