Clearway Energy Group has signed a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) and a 20-year energy storage agreement with the Public Utility District No. 2 of Grant County (Grant PUD) for the Royal Slope Energy Center project. The project is located in Grant County, Washington and comprises a 260 MW solar plant and a 260 MW battery energy storage system. The project is expected to reach commercial operation by the end of 2027. The project is expected to generate around $130 million in combined state and local tax revenue.
Furthermore, the project will assist Grant PUD in meeting the energy and capacity requirements identified in its 2024 Integrated Resource Plan, aimed at ensuring reliability and aligning with state-level carbon reduction targets. It will help Grant PUD achieve its solar and storage objectives by 2028 and contribute to meeting its power acquisition requirements through 2030. Once operational, the project will generate electricity to supply to approximately 87,000 homes.
In May 2025, Clearway Energy Group entered into a long-term PPA with Microsoft for the 335 MW Mount Storm wind farm in West Virginia. This project will help Microsoft meet its sustainability and decarbonisation targets by supplying carbon-free energy. The project will be built with American-made equipment.
