NTPC Limited has announced an investment of Rs 960 billion for developing nuclear, pumped hydro, and renewable energy projects in Chhattisgarh. The company, along with its subsidiary NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), has signed multiple agreements with the state government to facilitate these developments. The investment aims to expand the region’s energy infrastructure with projects spanning nuclear power, solar, wind, and hybrid energy sources.
A MoU has been signed between NTPC and the government of Chhattisgarh for the development of 4,200 MW of nuclear power, with an estimated investment of Rs 800 billion. Additionally, Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited (CSPGCL) and NTPC have finalised an MoU for a 1,200 MW pumped hydro storage project in Sikaser, Gariyaband district, requiring an investment of approximately Rs 58.76 billion.
Furthermore, NGEL and CSPGCL have entered a joint venture agreement to develop up to 2,000 MW of renewable energy projects in the state, with an investment of around Rs 100 billion. These initiatives are expected to support renewable generation obligation of CSPGCL and renewable purchase obligation of Chhattisgarh’s distribution companies.
