ACWA Power grows renewable portfolio in Africa

ACWA Power announced that its Redstone Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) plant in South Africa has achieved 50 MW and is poised to reach its full 100 MW capacity shortly. The successful synchronisation of Redstone CSP to South Africa’s national grid was achieved in collaboration with Herlogas and SEPCOIII. This project is expected to provide clean energy to nearly 200,000 households, significantly reducing carbon emissions.

Additionally, the Kom Ombo Photovoltaic (PV) plant in Egypt has reached its full production capacity of 200 MW, further extending ACWA Power’s African portfolio and supplying clean energy to more than 200,000 households. The company’s current investment is approx $7 billion in total project cost across Africa.

Earlier this year, ACWA Power secured a supply agreement with JinkoSolar for approximately 3 GW of photovoltaic modules for the Saudi PIF4 project. This latest contract reinforces a previously established framework agreement aimed at global collaboration on photovoltaic initiatives. The agreement encompasses two sub-projects within the PIF4 cluster: the Haden and Al-Khushaybi solar power stations.
