NHPC signs EPC contract with Adani for 600 MW solar project

Under the Central Public Sector Undertaking programme, NHPC Limited has signed a contract agreement for engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) with Adani Infra (India) Limited to develop a 600 MW solar project (Phase-II). The scope of work includes a ten-year transmission line to evacuate power to the inter-state transmission system substation and operations and maintenance.

In May 2022, NHPC, which was awarded a 1,000 MW capacity solar power project in the Phase II, Tranche III auction in September 2021, completed a contract award for the project. Previously, NHPC won the e-reverse auction organised by the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited with a viability gap funding of Rs. 4.49 million per MW. The contracts have been awarded to the three bidders, including Adani Infra (India), which won a contract worth Rs 42.96 billion to develop 600 MW of capacity in Gujarat. The other winners were Tata Power Solar Systems Limited, which won a contract worth Rs 17.32 billion to develop a 300 MW capacity in Rajasthan, and a joint venture of Shirdi Sai Electricals and ASR, which won a contract worth Rs 5.77 billion to develop a 100 MW capacity in Andhra Pradesh.
