Tecnimont Private Limited, the Indian subsidiary of Tecnimont that provides integrated E&C solutions, along with NEXTCHEM which offers sustainable technology solutions, has inaugurated the first green hydrogen production plant for GAIL (India) Limited. Located in Vijaipur, Madhya Pradesh, the project was awarded in May 2022.
The facility will generate 4.3 tonnes of green hydrogen per day using 10 MW capacity of electrolysers, positioning GAIL as the first company to initiate MW-scale green hydrogen production operations. NEXTCHEM will use the Vijaipur Green Hydrogen plant as a reference point to explore further energy transition opportunities in India.
In December 2022, NTPC Limited signed a non-binding MoU with Tecnimont Private Limited to jointly evaluate and explore the possibility of developing a commercial-scale green methanol production facility at an NTPC project in India.
