The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has amended the procedure for inclusion and updating of wind turbine models in the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) of wind turbines. The amendment provides additional time for compliance related to special bearings, including main bearings, yaw bearings, and pitch bearings, considering supply chain constraints.
As per the revised provisions, projects where bids were closed before July 31, 2025, and which are to be commissioned within three years from July 31, 2025, will be eligible for exemption. Main bearings have been exempted from compliance for all projects already bid or to be bid before July 31, 2027. This exemption will be subject to a review of the supply chain scenario after two years.
Furthermore, for wind power projects to be commissioned within eighteen months from July 31, 2025, under captive mode, open access, or third-party sale mode, additional exemptions have been granted. Yaw and pitch bearings have been exempted from compliance for one year, up to January 31, 2028, while main bearings have been exempted for two years, up to January 31, 2029, subject to a review of the supply chain situation.
