SJVN to supply 300 MW solar power to JKPCL

SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL) has entered into a power usage agreement with Jammu & Kashmir Power Corporation Limited (JKPCL). According to the agreement, SGEL will deliver 300 MW of solar power to JKPCL from its 1 GW photovoltaic project currently under construction. Located in the Bikaner district of Rajasthan, the project is estimated to cost Rs 54.91 billion.

The project is being developed as part of the central public sector undertakings scheme which requires the utilisation of solar cells and modules produced domestically. The electricity produced by the project will be utilised by government entities, either directly or through distribution companies. The project is expected to be commissioned by July 2024.

Recently, in February 2024, results were announced for SJVN’s auction to develop 1,500 MW of inter-state transmission system connected wind-solar hybrid power projects anywhere in India. Juniper Green Energy has won 150 MW by quoting Rs 3.43 per kWh. While, Datta Power Infra has won 50 MW and Avaada Energy has won 530 MW by quoting 3.47 per kWh and Rs 3.49 per kWh, respectively. Other companies have won the following capacities: Green Infra Wind Energy (Sembcorp) – 440 MW, Energizent Power (O2 Power) – 270 MW, and Green Prairie Energy (EverGreen Power) – 60 MW, by quoting Rs 3.48 per kWh. In the same month, SGEL issued a tender to produce and supply solar modules of DC capacity of 1,960 MWp, for solar projects throughout India.
