Winners of RUMSL’s 750 MW wind-solar hybrid auction declared

The winners have been announced for the Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited (RUMSL) auction for the development of 750 MW of grid-connected wind-solar hybrid power projects in Madhya Pradesh.

Sprng Ojas, Tata Power Renewable Energy, and ReNew Solar Power have been awarded 160 MW, 200 MW, and 300 MW respectively at a tariff of Rs 3.03 per kWh. TEQ Green Power IX (O2 Power) bid for 150 MW but was only awarded 90 MW at a tariff of Rs 3.04 per kWh. The project must be designed to deliver energy to a substation of the Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company (MPPTC).

The tender was issued in April 2022 and received a positive response, with 530 MW being oversubscribed. The successful bidders will be in charge of obtaining grid connectivity with MPPTCL. They must also make plans for the evacuation and injection of surplus power into the grid at agreed-upon interconnection points with the discoms. They will bear the cost of a dedicated line, including construction, maintenance, and losses from the start of the project to the point of delivery.

Recently in May 2022, the winners of the Solar Energy Corporation of India’s auction to develop 1,200 MW ISTS-connected wind-solar hybrid projects (Tranche-V) across India were announced. They included Tata Power, Amp Energy, NTPC, and SJVN. With a quoted tariff of Rs 2.53 per kWh, Tata power won a capacity of 600 MW. NTPC won 450 MW and Amp Energy won 120 MW of capacity. Under the bucket filling method, SJVN quoted Rs 2.54 per kWh for 200 MW but was only awarded 30 MW of capacity .
