Nobian and Air Products have entered into a long-term agreement for the offtake of RFNBO-compliant, certified hydrogen produced at Nobian’s facility in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The hydrogen is generated through a renewable energy-powered chlor-alkali electrolysis plant, which has a production capacity of more than 14,000 tonnes per year.
By supplying certified RFNBO hydrogen through existing infrastructure, Air Products will help customers meet the Netherlands’ RED III requirements while strengthening Rotterdam’s position as a hydrogen hub. The agreement will also expand the availability of RFNBO-certified hydrogen through Air Products’ established distribution network, supporting customers in meeting their compliance and decarbonisation objectives.
RFNBO-certified hydrogen can help fuel suppliers and industrial users, including refineries, meet the EU’s 2030 decarbonisation requirements. Under the targets, at least 1 per cent of transport fuels and 42 per cent of hydrogen used in industry in the EU must come from RFNBO-certified sources by 2030.
