POWERGRID invites bids for 265 MW/530 MWh BESS in Haryana

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has issued an invitation for bids for the design, supply, erection, testing, commissioning, and operation and maintenance of a 265 MW/530 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) project under tariff based competitive bidding in the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (UHBVNL) network. The bid submission deadline is August 31, 2026.

According to the tender guidelines, the project is required to be completed within 14 months, followed by 12 years of comprehensive maintenance by the contractor. UHBVNL has appointed SJVN Limited as the implementing agency for the bidding process. SJVN Limited has issued the request for selection for the project, with POWERGRID participating in the bidding process. If POWERGRID is selected as the successful bidder and receives the letter of award, it or its nominated company will undertake development of the BESS project. The fee for the tender is Rs 25,000.

In July 2026, POWERGRID commissioned the transmission system for the evacuation of power from the 7 GW renewable energy zone in the Khavda area of Gujarat under Phase IV – Part E4. The project achieved commercial operation with effect from June 21, 2026, in accordance with the applicable regulations of the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission.
