The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has invited bids for the utilisation of a 50 MW/100 MWh standalone energy storage system (ESS) on a short-term, on-demand basis. The selected developer will enter into an energy storage purchase agreement (ESPA) with SECI for the period from November 1, 2026, to October 31, 2027.
According to the tender guidelines, the developer will be responsible for owning, operating, and maintaining the energy storage system and making it available to SECI for charging and discharging as required. The developer will also be responsible for setting up the ESS, interconnecting it with the interstate transmission system network, and carrying out its operation and maintenance, including the safety of equipment and personnel. The tender is technology agnostic, provided the selected system meets the specified definition and performance requirements.
SECI will handle the scheduling of charging and discharging, while any applicable deviation settlement mechanism penalty will be levied separately on the ESSD. Additionally, bidders are required to submit an earnest money deposit of Rs 24 million. The bid processing fee is Rs 1,000,000. The bid submission deadline is September 30, 2026.
