Hy2gen’s Albatros hydrogen project wins European Hydrogen Bank support

Hy2gen Nordic’s Albatros renewable hydrogen project located in Kassø, Denmark, has been selected for support under the European Hydrogen Bank (EHB). The project will feature a 100 MW electrolyser producing RFNBO-certified renewable hydrogen for industrial customers in Germany and across Europe. The project is expected to produce approximately 144,000 tonnes of renewable hydrogen over a period of 10 years.

Furthermore, the project is expected to avoid an estimated 986,000 tonnes of carbon-equivalent emissions. The project secured support through the EHB’s competitive auction with a bid of €0.97/kg of renewable hydrogen produced. Project construction is expected to commence in 2028, with commercial operations expected to commence in 2031.

In April 2026, Plug Power Inc. was awarded the front-end engineering design contract to supply a 275 MW GenEco PEM electrolyzer system for Hy2gen Canada’s Courant project. The facility located in Baie-Comeau, Québec, will support Hy2gen’s production of low-carbon ammonia using electricity delivered through the Hydro-Québec grid.
