SJVN announces result of 250 MW/500 MWh standalone BESS auction

SJVN has announced the result of its 250 MW/500 MWh standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) auction. Hardi Hydro Energy emerged as the successful bidder to set up the project at the 1,360 MW Panipat thermal power station in Haryana. The company secured the capacity at a tariff of Rs 197,000 per MW per month.

According to the tender guidelines, the scope of work covers the development of the BESS and its charging and discharging on a demand basis.  It also encompasses the construction of the transmission network and the associated bay up to the interconnection point, along with the identification and allotment of land for the projects. The winner will also offer 12 years of operations and maintenance services for the project.

The project will receive viability gap funding capped at Rs 1.8 million per MWh under the power system development fund. The tender was floated earlier in December 2025.

Earlier in December 2025, SJVN invited bids to develop 2 GW of energy storage capacity through pumped storage projects across the country.
