Egypt has commenced construction of the ATUM Solar integrated industrial complex in Sokhna, with total investments of approximately $210 million. The project is being developed within a 200,000 square metre site at TEDA Egypt, located in the Suez Canal Economic Zone. The complex is a joint initiative involving JA Solar from China, AH from Egypt, Global South Utilities from the UAE, and Infinity Capital from Bahrain.
The complex will include three manufacturing facilities with annual capacities of 2 GW for solar cell production, 2 GW for solar module manufacturing, and 1 GWh for energy storage systems (ESS). The solar cell output will be fully oriented towards export markets, while the solar modules and ESS are intended to serve domestic as well as regional demand. The development is expected to create around 850 direct jobs. Additionally, the project plans to increase the share of locally sourced components through the use of Egyptian aluminium and glass.
In September 2025, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development approved a $74.1 million financing package for the construction of a 200 MW wind farm, jointly owned by Infinity Power and Masdar, in Ras Ghareb, Egypt. The funding includes a senior loan of up to $60.7 million, a concessional loan of $3.38 million from the Green Climate Fund, and a $10 million investment grant.
