The Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (UPERC) has given its approval to Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) for procurement of 300 MW of wind-solar hybrid power from NHPC. The power will be procured at a tariff rate of Rs 3.56 per kWh, which includes a trading margin of Rs 0.07 per kWh.
Furthermore, the regulatory body gave approval of the power sale agreement. It also stated that the trading margin will be reduced to Rs 0.2 per kWh if NHPC fails to establish an escrow arrangement or furnish an irrevocable, unconditional revolving letter of credit to the hybrid power developer.
In September 2025, UPPCL issued a tender to set up 375 MW/1500 MWh standalone battery energy storage systems in Uttar Pradesh.
Furthermore, in May 2025, UPERC released draft regulations for captive and renewable energy-generating projects.
