DEME, through its Taiwanese joint venture CDWE, has won a contract for the Formosa 4 offshore wind farm in Taiwan. The scope includes transporting and installing 35 foundations and the offshore substation, along with carrying out scour protection works. Foundation installation is planned to begin in the first half of 2027, subject to the final investment decision. The company will deploy multiple vessels, including the floating offshore installation vessel Green Jade.
Additionally, a rock placement vessel will also be used to complete the scour protection activities. The 495 MW wind farm, developed by Synera Renewable Energy, is located 20 km off the coast of Miaoli County. DEME has been operating in Taiwan since 2019 through CDWE, contributing to offshore wind farms such as Zhong Neng, Changfang Xidao, Hai Long, and Greater Changhua.
Earlier this month, Synera Renewable Energy selected Siemens Gamesa to supply 35 turbines of 14 MW each for the 495 MW Formosa 4 offshore wind project in Taiwan. The turbines will be sourced from Siemens Gamesa’s nacelle production facility in Taichung.
