The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has extended the timeline for the Development of Solar Parks and Ultra Mega Solar Power Projects scheme by three years, up to March 31, 2029. Although the programme has been extended until the end of the financial year (FY) 2028-29, fresh approvals for solar park capacity will be allowed only until March 31, 2026.
Furthermore, according to the order released by the MNRE, the extension of timeline is without any additional financial implications. The focus will remain on completing the ongoing solar parks and clearing committed liabilities under the existing program.
Earlier this month, MNRE, with the National Institute of Solar Energy, invited proposals for pilot projects from start-ups developing innovative green hydrogen production or utilisation technologies.
Furthermore, in the same month, MNRE has approved an additional budget of Rs 1.4 billion for Phase I of the National Bioenergy Programme.
