MNRE organises quad workshop on clean hydrogen

The Quad Workshop on Regulations, Codes, and Standards (RCS) for clean hydrogen was organised by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) as part of efforts under the Quad Clean Energy Pillar and the Quad Clean Hydrogen Strategic initiative. The workshop aimed to strengthen ongoing initiatives and identify new opportunities in the clean hydrogen sector. The union minister for power and new & renewable energy stated that to achieve energy security, the quad countries must collaborate to develop a framework for robust codes and standards. Furthermore, he highlighted that the quad nations can complement each other’s strengths in leading global production of green hydrogen and green ammonia.

Government and industry stakeholders from Australia, India, Japan, and the US attended the workshop. The participants discussed the creation of a framework for setting up of standards, codes, and regulations for the clean hydrogen value chain. The RCS partnership was also used to ensure safety and compliance throughout the hydrogen value chain. The workshop identified critical intervention areas where collaborative efforts could be utilised.
